What is eyeliner and what is its use? The use of eyeliner is many years old and has been common since ancient Egypt and even earlier. In ancient Egypt, women and even men used something similar to vermilion for eye make-up and eyeliner. In the past and long ago, it was more common to draw wide and thick eyeliners and less than simple and narrow eyeliners. In ancient Egypt, eyeliner was prepared from a combination of materials such as antimony and copper ore, and its people believed that drawing eyeliner would keep them away from the evil eye.
